Legier is a jewelry brand started in 2015 by Biederman, an art historian and curator. The brand's core is mid-century art set in California. While using natural stones with distorted expressions that represent the sublime state of nature, the jewelry is somewhat sharp and sophisticated, evoking the expressions of "hard edge" and "post-minimalism" that represent the art of the mid-century era. The brand's designs are greatly influenced by the sensibility of "Double Negative," a representative work of land art announced by artist Michael Heizer in 1970. The designs feature a unique and delicate balance that combines opposing elements that are originally divided, such as organic and inorganic, abstract and concrete, feminine and masculine. The collection is produced in collaboration with a family-owned company in Los Angeles.
