Reggae Book VOLCANO Special Feature｜Hand-painted poster artist Sassa Fras

This book is packed with information about the reggae dancehall scene, primarily focusing on the VOLCANO sound system, based on the authors' frequent trips to Jamaica from 1983 to 2010.

What I like most about this book is the hand-drawn posters, which are one of the characteristics of dancehall reggae. It features an interview with Sassa Fras, the artist who draws them. The interview itself is not only very rare but also substantial in volume, which is a treat for graphic designers and reggae fans alike. I found this book while searching for his interview.

It's very rare, and it doesn't seem to be sold on either Amazon Japan or Amazon US.

This is a revised edition of the groundbreaking and long out-of-print "Reggae Inna Dancehall Style" (Black Star, 1984) by Pekka Vuorinen of Finland and the late Tero Kaski. The new edition, expanded from 96 to 206 pages, is published by Eronen (Helsinki).

Each page has a unique design, printed in full color. In addition to unpublished interviews and photos, it includes reproductions of 12 hand-drawn dancehall posters by Sassa Fras.

I've taken good care of it, so there's no damage, but there is some slight edge discoloration and the smell of an old book due to aging.
