Wolfgang Tillmans: Today Is the First Day
Cover has a dent, but the inside is clean.
A collection of works by Wolfgang Tillmans, a German photographer based in London and Germany, who won the Turner Prize in 2000, one of the most important awards in the contemporary art world. This collection was published in conjunction with two exhibitions: "Rebuilding the Future" held at the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) in Dublin and "Today Is The First Day" held at WIELS, the contemporary art center in Brussels. Tillmans conceived and designed the book himself, tracing the evolution of his work over the past three years with a wealth of photographs. It showcases his multifaceted approach to image-making, video, performance, music, and political activism. Furthermore, essays by Olivia Laing, Brian Dillon, Catherine Wood, and Dr. David Chew shed light on different aspects of the work. This volume offers a wide range of works, including stage designs for the English National Opera's "War Requiem" (featured over 30 pages), recent portraits, and installation photographs exhibited around the world, such as in Kinshasa (France), Goslar (Germany), Hong Kong, and Johannesburg.
